142nd Fighter Wing Warrior Spotlight

Over the past 10 years, Staff Sgt. Kalene Kaplan, an Aerospace Propulsion Engineer, has been associated with the Air Force in one capacity or another. She was once a member of the 939th Air Refueling Wing stationed here at the Portland Air National Guard Base, Portland, Ore., and later transferred to Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., when the unit was closed due to the Base Realignment and Closure Commission in 2005. Kaplan returned to Portland 18 months ago to pursue her current job, as an aircraft engine mechanic, maintaining the motors which boost the F-15 Eagle’s flown by the 142nd Fighter Wing.
