It should be noted, in the construction of emplacements, that the larger the aperture, the more imperfect is the concealment and that the exposure of batteries is being brought close to the line for a given field of fire is made less safe not only by their approach to the enemy, but by the increased difficulty in the constuction and concealment of their position
