[Hurricane Katrina] Thibodaux, La., October 8, 2005 - Evan Smith (left), a former Social Studies teacher at Walter L. Cohen High School in New Orleans, was left without a job when Hurricane Katrina struch the city, has been hired by FEMA and is now at the Thibodaux Disaster Recovery Center, 508 St. Mary Street where he is in training to become a DRC manager. Evan is a member of the "Teach For America" program that places new teachers into inner city and low-income areas throughout the country for two year assignments. Win Henderson / FEMA
