Naval Station Norfolk conducted a ribbon cutting ceremony
Summary
Naval Station Norfolk conducted a ribbon cutting ceremony on top of the Naval Legal Service Office for one of the Navy's first green roof projects. A green roof is a concept where a building's roof is partially or completely covered with vegetation that is planted over the roof's waterproofing membrane. The roof is expected to significantly reduce heating and cooling costs. The ribbon cutting was held in conjunction with a construction completion ceremony with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency that marked an important milestone in the environmental cleanup and restoration of 170 sites.
