The Kumaka Regional Hospital that services Amer-Indians living in isolated and remote villages in the Guyana rain forests. Due to lack of funding, the hospital has received little maintenance, and its damaged solar power supply remained inoperable for several years, leaving the doctors to practice with only limited generator power. The hospital was selected for renovation during this first combined humanitarian and civic assistance exercise conducted between the United States and Guyana. Military personnel from the Air Force, Air Force Reserve and National Guard, Army, Army National Guard and Marine Corps participated in the exercise which included engineering and medical readiness training
